Mission & Vision

The convictions that drive everything we do.

"Restoring lives, uniting families, and building spirit-filled communities in Toronto — one transformed heart at a time."

We exist to serve the whole person — spiritually, emotionally, and practically — through the transforming power of the gospel, the warmth of community, and the consistent presence of caring volunteers and pastors who walk alongside those who are hurting.

Community vision and hope at Assembleia de Deus

A City Transformed by Hope

We envision a Toronto where every family — regardless of language, nationality, economic status, or past — can access spiritual community, practical support, and the unconditional love of God. We see a city where restoration is not reserved for the fortunate, but accessible to all.

Our vision is to grow as a multicultural, multilingual ministry that reflects the diverse beauty of Toronto — serving across cultural lines with programs that address root causes of family breakdown, social isolation, and spiritual emptiness.

By 2030, we aim to expand Projeto Restaurando Vidas to serve 100 additional families annually, launch a bilingual after-school tutoring program, and deepen our partnerships with Toronto social services for holistic community care.

What We Stand For

These values shape every program, conversation, and decision we make as a ministry.

Grace

We extend unconditional grace to everyone who walks through our doors — because we ourselves have received immeasurable grace from God.

Compassion

We see every person as made in the image of God, worthy of dignity, care, and the opportunity to thrive — regardless of their story or circumstance.

Integrity

We operate with full transparency in our finances, programs, and relationships — honouring our community's trust through consistent, ethical stewardship.

Inclusion

Our ministry is a multicultural family — services in Portuguese and English, programs for all ages, and an open door policy for every person seeking community.

Restoration

We believe in second chances, healing, and the miraculous ability of God to restore what has been broken — in individuals, families, and communities.

Service

Faith without works is dead. We express our love through practical action — food hampers, counselling, mentorship, prayer, and showing up when it matters most.

"The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free."

— Luke 4:18 (NIV)

How We Live Out Our Mission

Our mission isn't just words on a wall — it is lived out every week through concrete programs and personal relationships.

Week by Week, Life by Life

Every Sunday worship service and midweek Bible study is an invitation — for the long-time believer to go deeper, and for the newcomer to take a first step. Our pastoral team prioritizes personal ministry: phone calls, home visits, hospital prayers, and one-on-one counselling are all part of the rhythm of our ministry.

Through Projeto Restaurando Vidas, we walk with individuals in addiction recovery for months at a time — providing structured programming, accountability relationships, and spiritual mentorship that addresses the root causes of brokenness, not just the symptoms.

Our outreach teams hit the streets of Keele, Jane, and Wilson every month — distributing food hampers, offering prayer, and connecting marginalized residents with city services and the warmth of our congregation.
